Of all the seasonal beers, there is no doubt that fall has the best lineup. With malty Oktoberfests and spicy pumpkin ales, nothing pairs better with the crisp autumn air. Lucky for Rochesterians, we have some fantastic local brewers that pump out delicious ales and lagers for the fall season. Below are the five you need to try!

Lock 32 – Eerie Canal

Lock 32 wins for most creative beer name with their spicy and dark colored Eerie Canal Pumpkin Ale. This brew brings a 6.8% ABV and a ‘pumpkin pie aroma,’ that is perfect for the cooler weather. Grab one and drink it with the a fantastic view of Erie Canal.

Three Heads – Oktoberfest

With their new brewery in full swing, Three Heads is also bringing a delicious Oktoberfest to its legion of fans. The beer has a light amber hue, sweet caramel aromas and an ABV of 6.1%. Their huge patio is the perfect setting to have this beer on a cool fall day.

If you are looking for the most authentic pumpkin ale, Lost Borough is your spot. Most ales are made with pumpkin additives, but they use real pumpkins that are roasted on site. This robust pumpkin taste, plus the addition of ginger and cinnamon, brings this 6% ABV fall ale to another level of flavor.
Best Day: Friday for $1 off pints, tastings, and growler fills from 4 -6 pm.

Rohrbach’s – Oktoberfest

With over 25 years in the brewing game, Rohrbachs is a seasoned veteran with an Oktoberfest that has been perfected over time. This German-style lager uses Vienna and Munich malts, mixed with German noble hops for a full flavor beer. It is also a little lighter alcohol with 5.9% ABV. And for the first time, they will be packaging it in snazzy 16oz cans this season.
Best Day to Visit: Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm-6pm and Friday from 2pm to 6pm for a $10 deal on a pepperoni wood-fired pizza and pint of beer.
